FAQ For Celebrant

What is the Marriage Paperwork I need to complete?

The first thing you must do is complete the NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage). This must be done at least 30 days before your wedding date.

Here is a link to the NOIM form: https://www.ag.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-08/notice-of-intended-marriage.PDF

The only parts you need to complete are on page 3 and are the numbered parts i.e. numbers 1-16 under the ‘table’ headed ‘Party 1’ and ‘Party 2’.

You then need to sign your NOIM (on page 4) in front of your marriage celebrant (me) – we can either meet in real life to do this OR I can witness your signatures via videocall / Zoom . If it is not convenient to meet with me or organise a videocall, then a JP, policeman, Doctor, another celebrant or solicitor can witness your signatures. If you live overseas then a Notary Public or staff member of the Australian Consulate / Trade Commission can witness your signatures.

If you choose to get your NOIM witnessed by anyone other than me, you must scan and email me your completed NOIM & then post the original to me (or give it to me on your wedding day). I will lodge your NOIM with the Births, Deaths and Marriages office.

What ID / other documents Does the Celebrant Need to See?

I must verify your identity in order to conduct your ceremony. If you have passports, that is great as that is all I need to see. If you do not, I need to see a birth certificate and your driver’s licence.

Also, If either of you have been married before, I will need to see confirmation of the dissolution of the previous marriage i.e a divorce certificate.  If one of you is widowed, I will need to see a copy of the deceased spouses’ death certificate.

When is the quickest time I can get married in Australia?

Yes of course!  There are some legal vows that you must say however, you are welcome to add your own personal words as well.  I am more than happy to help you write your own vows and even give

We Get Married without Guests?

You certainly can do this with ‘Let’s Elope Gold Coast’ – it is a legal requirement to have a minimum of 2 witnesses at your wedding (who must be over 18 and understand English), however both Bec and Angelina can do this for you if you choose to have no guests on your wedding day.

Are we allowed to write our own vows?

Yes of course!  There are some legal vows that you must say however, you are welcome to add your own personal words as well.  I am more than happy to help you write your own vows and even give you some samples from past brides and grooms to help you along.

What equipment do you provide?

I will bring a high quality PA system with cordless microphone so all of your guests will be able to hear the ceremony.  I can play your wedding ceremony songs through the speaker via bluetooth and I can so please let me know your music choices so I can make up a ceremony playlist for you on my Spotify account .

FAQ Photography

What sets you apart from other photographers?

I was the 2024 GC and Scenic Rim best wedding photographer WINNER! With 17 years of shooting weddings under my belt, In the UK, Europe and Australia, I know how to guide clients to make them feel relaxed while looking their very best.

Even the most super camera-shy couples feel at ease with me.

How long until i get my images on USB?

About 2-3 weeks is average for an elopement. Often sooner if i have no backlog.

You will always get some sneak peeks sent to you, ( emailed) within 24 hours. Once your USB is ready, i will either hand deliver your USB to your door (if you are Gold Coast based) or Mail via Express post service if you live further away.

What if it is raining on the day?

No Rain, No rainbows! Try not to let the rain spoil your day!. We have over 300 days of sunshine on the GC, but due to our tropical climate, we do have storms!. So for an outdoor ceremony or elopement then a wet weather plan B is always something to think about, especially in the wet season in QLD.

I have a couple of clear umbrellas, and im happy to get a bit wet for your pics, if you are 🙂

If it looks rainy,  then will be monitoring the radar for the good dry periods to get outside when we can.

Also there are a couple of lovely undercover public rotundas on the Gold Coast that we can use to hold the ceremony if available.

Will my photos be posted publicly on your site or social media?

I respect your privacy and allow each couple to decide whether or not they want their photos displayed publicly.

I’d love to show off you & your images! So if you’re happy for me to share + tag then i will. But If not, that’s okay too. Please just make us aware of this at the booking stage.

Will you edit my images?

Yes, all your images will be edited as I shoot in a RAW format, before they are converted to a JPEG  ( a finished image ready for your USB & for printing)

How many images will I receive?

This is a hard question to answer, as ALL elopements are different. But there’s no upper limit to how many pics I take, I just shoot what I see.

Do you provide confetti?

YES, I DO!.. I provide enough confetti for an aisle exit pic. The confetti I use is dissolvable rice paper so it is beach friendly, ocean & wildlife friendly & is non toxic. If it is too wet /windy for confetti, then I have some ribbon wands for your guests to wave, as an alternative.

I also have a modern wood/acrylic plaque for you to hold, that says ‘ We ELOPED’. This can make a lovely announcement pic for social media 🙂

What is the best time of day for a beach wedding?

This can vary through the year with the heat and sunrise & sunset times. If you have a specific date in mind, then I will check for sunset and sunset time and give my best advice on what time would work well for the time of year.

As a general rule, I advise to avoid the middle of the day as the beaches are busier, the light is harsh with no shade so you will be squinty, and the sand can be super-hot.

Hot TIP!: The sun rises from the ocean on the Gold Coast and sets behind the dunes/hinterland.

Do you have favourite or preferred spots to shoot at?

YES! I have LOTS.. The Gold Coast has endless stunning spots for photos, & I am happy to share these spots with you!.I can suggest where would be a pretty and quiet location for your ceremony.

We are here to help all we can with your ceremony location and can even suggest good close by accommodation options.

How long do we have you for on the day?

You have me for up to 2 hours. I will arrive 30 mins before ceremony start time.

This will be plenty of time for :

Couple arrival & any guests

Ceremony pics as ceremony is happening.

Certificate signing

Confetti exit

Group shot

Combo Pics after with any guests/family/kids under arbour and surrounding.

& then Newlyweds together at ceremony location/beach and surrounding.

FAQ Ceremony Styling

When do I need to decide on the ceremony location?

Ceremony location needs to be selected at least 4 weeks before your ceremony. If you choose a location we are not familiar with, the exact ceremony location is to be marked on a map or described using landmarks (we will then mark it on a map and send it for your approval). If you prefer to have a meeting at the location to discuss the positioning of the set up, an additional fee of $80 will be charged.

Can I choose ANY spot on the beach?

For a beach wedding we will set up within 10-15 meters from the beach entry. The entry is to be no more than 20 metres distance from the vehicle access. Please advise us at the time of booking of any difficulties with access such as steps, steep hills, long walk etc as an additional labour fee may apply. If in doubt you can send us photos or a video of the location and access.

Do I need to apply for council permit?

Once the ceremony location is chosen, Let’s Elope Gold Coast will obtain any ceremony or event permits that may be required. The cost of any park / beach permit will be passed onto the couple (note that there is no charge for Gold Coast beach wedding permits but this is not the case for other shire councils).

Can you still set up in bad weather?

In the event of rain or high winds, we will set up at your wet weather (Plan B) venue. This will be confirmed with you 4 hours prior to the ceremony. If you choose to hold the ceremony outdoors despite our weather warnings, Let’s Elope Gold Coast reserves the right to withhold any decorative items that may be damaged by the rain. Any item not used on the day of hire due to changed circumstances or inclement weather conditions will not be refunded or credited. We are happy to set up in light rain and provide you clear umbrellas. Please note that some arbors can’t be set up on the hard floor due to ground stakes being required for support. We will discuss your plan B arbor options if the weather forecast is not looking good.

Do you have plan B public locations?

Most couples use the reception venue as a plan B (undercover) location. Most venues are happy to accommodate the ceremony at no extra cost if you give them a few hours’ notice. If you are not planning on having reception or having reception at home that has no undercover area suitable for holding the ceremony then there are a few undercover rotundas at Gold Coast public parks which we can use if available. Please note you can’t book both beach/garden spot and a rotunda as a back up plan with the council as they wouldn’t allow double booking for the same couple. Undercover public locations we like to use:

  1. The most popular one is rotunda at Cascade Gardens at Broadbeach, can fit up to 30 guests standing or 15 seated.
  2. Gazebo at Laguna Park Palm Beach – a small size gazebo with lovely lake backdrop, fits up to 10 people standing and has outdoor bench seating not undercover.
  3. We would be happy to meet at your hotel (if you are here from overseas / interstate) and perform the ceremony on your balcony. You must advise the Let’s Elope Gold Coast team at least 4 hours before the ceremony if you will be changing the ceremony location due to inclement weather – you are responsible for choosing a Plan B location – please contact us if you need guidance with this.
When is the latest I can decide on my ceremony styling preferences?
We require the styling to be decided on at least 2 weeks prior to the ceremony date. Please note that sometime we have more than one ceremony on the same day thus some styling options could be already booked. Its is advised to book your styling shortly after you booked your package with us.

Are the flowers arrangements for the arbor fresh flowers?
To help us keep the cost of the package low and affordable we use faux or dried flowers on the arbors. However fresh flower arrangements are available on request at extra cost. Fresh flower arrangements can be reused at your reception or simply taken home with you or to your hotel room as they would last a few days.

Do you have silk bouquet I can hire?
